You'll notice a few changes in This Rock. (We're acting on our readers' suggestions and criticisms.) The first new item is this editorial column. I'll use it to remark on trends in apologetics, on the activities of Catholic Answers (apparently some readers are unaware of the connection between the organization and This Rock), and on the month's articles. You'll also see a change in focus in the articles themselves. We like to think we've produced a useful magazine over the last two years, but we want to focus even more sharply on what we're best at--apologetics, which is the art of explaining and defending the faith.

As you saw in last month's issue, we have begun publishing cartoons by up-and-coming Catholic illustrator Jeffry B. Harris. Some of his work is pointed, some poignant, but all of it, we think, is delightful. Please let us know what you think.

In "Reviews," in addition to the regular critiques of books, you'll find a sidebar spotlighting good finds--new titles, evergreens, and old favorites recently resuscitated. We can't review all the good apologetics books (nor can we pan all the bad ones), but at least we can give you help each month in building your own apologetics bookshelf. As we note elsewhere in this issue, it's a jungle out there. You could be eaten alive if you venture out unarmed.
