THERE'S a little bit of nerd in each of us--or at least in most of us. I have a friend, a well-known Catholic writer (you probably have some of his books on your shelves) who refuses to have anything to do with computers. He writes his books longhand, and it seems to work for him, since he already has written more books than some people read in a lifetime. But sometimes I think he brandishes his computerophobia the way Hilarie Belloc used to brandish his cape and stick. Everyone deserves an eccentricity or two, and maybe this is his.

But it's not mine. I happen to like computers. Perhaps I like them too much, though sometimes I like them not at all. (I have in mind this weekend's frustration at trying to make a new modem work.)

If we have a computer nerd on staff, I suppose I'm it, by default if nothing else, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. (I can see it now. Someday there will be a Nerds Anonymous: "Hello, my name is Karl, and I'm a computer nerd.")

Recently I've been working on the Catholic Answers home page on the World Wide Web. We hope to upload all of our tracts, many articles from past issues of This Rock, and even audio selections from our tapes.

If you have Internet access, please visit our Web site. Let us know what you think of it. If you like it, please add a link to it on your own home page. Our Web address is:
